September's Meeting

Apologies from    Fiona
In Attendance     Barbara
                          Tina - Welcome

In discussion was the trial and implementation of a club library system for the borrowing of tools/equipment etc, between members at this stage. Kylie has been suggested as the librarian as she is a librarian and has the required knowledge. This was supported and trials are ongoing.
With the investigation of other clubs library systems, so that the association has the best system for its needs.
In discussion is the need to have rules and welcome pack prior to the association going live, and anyone with any helpful information for Barbara is welcome to forward it to her, again we will be investigating similar clubs to see how they present this information and will be a topic for continued discussion.
The Buddy Card Swaps seem to still be popular and this month the theme is HALLOWEEN!!! Instead of drawing a name out of the hat though please bring your card to the meeting in an envelope where it will be placed in a box for distribution on the night!

This months shoe box challenge was a huge hit thanks to Wendy and Liz who put in an awesome amount of effort, with Wendy getting us all making personalised tissue box covers.....yes OFF THE PAGE!!! and Liz with a fantastic sparkly black embossed card, completed with water colouring using inks and ink dyed fabric flowers.
Rachel also provided a flower card kit although her plans to make a flower shaping pad were thwarted by the DVD cases being the wrong depth!!!

Next month's meeting is to be held at Fiona's and is a complete your UFO (Unfinished Object) night

August Meeting

The August meeting was held at Rachel's house in the downstairs "poker/office" room.
In attendance ....... Rachel

Discussion during the meeting involved the website and eventually opening up membership to the general public. BlueHost run a website hosting service for $5/month which would be affordable and allow us to have lots of features such as a forum! and the blog etc. We will continue to discuss this and hopefully move forward with the idea.

The next meeting to be held on the 17th September is being held again at Rachel's house but instead of her hosting a 'project' a shoebox challenge has been issued.
Basically design a card/tag/or other small project, then put together a small kit with enough materials for every participant to make one (or a mini kit 'ette' for each participant). Example a card made with a patterned paper front and paper flower embellishment. Will require a kit containing 6 card blanks, 6 pieces of patterned paper, and 6 paper flowers.

Secret buddy card was up and running again with the 'theme' being funny cards made in monochrome! Should provoke some interesting creations!

Dates for your Diary

October meeting 15/10/11 at Fiona's
November meeting at Wendy's (date to be confirmed)
December meeting 10/12/11 at Fay's Christmas Wonderland
I can assure you we are not! We had an unoffical meeting during July and will be back with the next official meeting at Rachels House on 27th August from 7pm. Any questions do not hesitate to contact us!

June meeting at Wendy's house

This months meeting held at Wendy's in Forest Lakes was a fantastic evening, with Wendy demonstrating how simple making your own natural beauty treatments can be. We watched in awe as Wendy whipped up a batch of honey lip balm for us! Containing goodies such as cocoa butter and vitamin E it is a real treat and lasts on the lips for ages. Wendy has also said that anybody wanting some can let her know before the next meeting and she will bring some along with her. It was a double deal evening with Fay bringing along her snazzy Cricut machine and demonstrating how it takes away the necessity and pain of fussy cutting!
This months minutes are as follows:

Apologies from Fiona and Lyndal

Discussion of the role of the UWA with supportive, friendly, tutorial elements included in its ongoing form. (the Role of Tim Holtz, Wendy said I had to write this!)
Discussion of the blog, Barbara has purchased the domain name, we talked about starting a website, with a support forum, requests and classifieds. If anybody has any thoughts or ideas on this please let us know.
Size of group was discussed, it was felt that this is the groups inaugural year and that after the first 12months the group will be able to expand exponentially. With this in mind we have started a discussion around ongoing interests, with future goals and ambitions, and the ironing out of kinks.
We have started to discuss a library lending system and are looking into how to run it and what it would involve, if anybody has further ideas please share!
We talked about putting a list of members birthdays up on the blog to enable sharing of birthday cards, and warm squashy feelings! How do you all feel about this?

The next monthly UWA meeting will be CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Christmas in July will be held at Fay's on the 16th July, starting during the afternoon and continuing through into the evening. Sending of birthday cards, maybe putting list of birthdays on web, sending of cards.

Secret buddy cards are still going ok, with participation being optional. This months theme is Christmas.
Fay has her slippers on! and has a nice Cricut suitcase. Barbaras slippers look like cookie monster! Wendy's house is awesome.

Which concludes the meeting

Pics from April Meeting

Hey there crafty ladies!
Now that I have started taming some of that chaos that is my house I have finally found my camera cord so I could upload pics onto the blog.
I had to wait for my back to get  a bit better  - picking everything up off the floor with a plastic grabby claw all day just isn't as fun as it used to be ;)

Fay studiously at work
A proud Rachel - brave despite her imperfect seams ;)
Wendy giggly with triumph
Dianne the over-achiever proudly displaying her excessive amount of patches
Lyndal giddy with delight over how well the evening went, and Moya quietly reserved
Who says patchwork isn't sexy? (anyone looking at me in this picture I suspect ;)

Also don't forget that this month's meeting is also at Lyndal's house, to finish off the cushions we started.
I shall be sending out a full email today.

30th April Meeting - Lyndal's House

During the latest meeting it was decided that a small portion of our get together should be in a formal (ish) meeting stylee. It was decided that heading the committee as president/chairwomen would be Barbara, Treasurer was given to Wendy as she is a banker. Secretary is me - Rachel (Funkibubl).

Therefore the minutes of the meeting are as follows

In attendance Barbara, Wendy, Rachel, Lyndal (host), Fay, Dianne, and Mora, apologies for absence from Fiona - who expressed a desire to participate in this meetings secret buddy card.
Items for discussion
  • fees for attendance
  • Secret buddy card
  • blog
  • tools library
It was discussed and decided that a small fee payable each month at meeting, to assist with purchasing materials was not unreasonable and decided upon at $5 each payable to Wendy who will control the piggy bank.
Secret Buddy cards were overall a success, with all present choosing to participate again. This time around though if we could all please bring the card we receive to the meeting.
The UWA blog was discussed and Barbara added Wendy and myself as administrators, also discussed was the idea of adding a list of members and their skills. This item is for continued discussion and improvement all comments welcome.
A tools library was discussed, with Barbara already having a very stylish personal catalogue available for members to look through, I already decided I will need to Cuttlebug some scary Halloween cats.

This concludes the first minutes of the UWA.
and not a mention of Regina Falanges, or a doodah at all
